Please note that during the day the Louise does not offer a meal service or snacks and lunch or afternoon tea are not available on site.  The bar is not manned during the daytime; however, you may order drinks at the reception desk.

The Lions Big Bottle Lunch at Oxford Landing

Tuesday 29 July - Departs 11:00 AM / Returns 16:00 PM

The tour begins with a coach transfer from The Louise. Please meet in the hotel reception area at 11.25am for a 11.30am departure.

Upon arrival the Head of Winemaking Sam Wigan will welcome you at Yalumba and take you on an immersive day across the winery, starting with drinks and canapes in the Cooperage.

Here, the Head Cooper Kym Venning will showcase the craftsmanship of wine barrel making, a trade unique to Yalumba, as the only winery in Australia with an onsite cooperage.

This progressive lunch experience moves to the Signature Cellar, where you will learn more about the iconic the Signature Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz. Syphon a tasting from the barrel, before heading into the Centenary Barrel room to learn about Yalumba’s history as Australia’s oldest family-owned winery.

Seated in the converted fermentation Tank 11, lunch will continue with free-flowing Big Bottles of Yalumba’s Rare & Fine wines.

You will also have the rare opportunity to explore the labyrinth of the Hill-Smith Family wine collection museum and the chance to purchase Yalumba wines, both current release and some handpicked museum wines, to take home with you.

The day concludes with transfers back to The Louise.

Day Trip to Adelaide

Wednesday 30 July - Departs 9:30 AM / Returns 17:00 PM

The Barossa is in South Australia, about 70km north-east of Adelaide, the state’s capital city.   Your trip will include a visit of the city centre, The State Library of South Australia and lunch at a local wine bar and kitchen. 

The State Library is the information heart of South Australia, located in the North Terrace Cultural Precinct.  You will have the opportunity to explore all three buildings: the award-winning contemporary Catherine Helen Spence Wing with its iconic glass foyer, the Mortlock Wing with its 19th century Victorian splendour, and the 1861 heritage listed Institute Building.

Sweeping stadium views, stylish bar and lounge, premium menu and extensive wine list.  Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen is one of Adelaide’s most impressive dining experiences.

Extending across level three of Oval Hotel and into the iconic Adelaide Oval, Bespoke’s unique setting makes a stunning backdrop lunch.

Executive Chef Daniel Simpson’s modern Australian menu brings bold flavours to life through fresh, seasonal produce.  Two drinks are included, and you may choose from house wine, beer or a soft drink.

After lunch you will be transferred to the North Terrace, Adelaide city where you can choose to spend your time either at Rundle Mall, The Art Gallery of South Australia or South Australian Museum.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  We have been advised that the carpet is being replaced in the Mortlock Chamber (section of the library) and we are now unable to conduct tours through this section during July so we will amend the Private tour of the State Library slightly and now include access to the basement (old & rare artifacts storage) which is an area of the library usually inaccessible to the public. 

 

Private 60 minute tour of State Library of South Australia | 30 July 2025 – 11:00am

Guests will have the opportunity to explore one of South Australia’s great institutions and take a look behind the shelves. An expert librarian will take you on a walk sharing stories of how the State Library began. Your experience starts at the historic Adelaide Circulating Library to learn the history of the building. By 1861, the collection of books held there was to became the first public library in South Australia. The Adelaide Circulating Library has been used in the past as a backdrop to several movies including Shine and Gallipoli. Continue your way to the basement to see some of the interesting old & rare artifacts housed in the library. Discover how the state’s most important treasures are maintained in the state-of-the-art storage and how the preservations team cares for the collection. 

Breakfast with the Roos

Tuesday 29 July - Departs 7:00 AM /Returns 9:30 AM

One of the best-loved experiences at The Louise, ‘Breakfast with the Roos’ is an early morning adventure to the Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park for a meet and greet with a difference!

With espresso coffees pre-ordered, this adventure starts with a 20-minute drive to the nearby Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park, famous for its panoramic valley views and home to nature walking trails.

 

You will join a conservation guide to embark on the Stringy Bark Loop trail for a wonderful insight to the region’s diverse flora and fauna – including kangaroos seen in their natural habitat. A gourmet picnic breakfast is served for an up-close-and-personal encounter with the locals.

Dining

Dining at The Louise is a local affair, where seasonal, fresh and locally grown produce combine on harmoniously designed, contemporary menus and sits neatly alongside a carefully developed selection of fine wines from the Barossa region and beyond.

For those with a slight tendency toward overindulging, you can finish the evening in your suite with the fire on, a glass of port in hand, and a delicious selection of local cheeses!

At leisure

After a day’s adventuring, there are options to relax at The Louise. Perfectly positioned to watch the sun set over the vineyards is the wet-edge lap pool (unheated), while the nearby gym is fully equipped with cross trainer, treadmills, bikes and weights.

Adjacent is a cedar sauna with dry or humid functions and a shower to refresh.

Transport is very limited so it is recommended to book well in advance should you wish to make your own arrangements during your stay.

Darling’s Food with Passion Cafe is opposite the Valley Hotel and offers great takeaway coffee and other quick bites to eat (open 6am-12pm daily)

Vino Lokal offers coffee, boozy brunches and weekend dinners (Thursday, Sunday & Monday 8am – 4pm, and Friday & Saturday 8am – Late)

Maggie Beer’s Pheasant Farm for picnic baskets and their signature Barossa produce (including pate)

1918 offers fresh, fine dining cuisine with a great wine list

Apex Bakery is a small, traditional style bakery that produces beautiful breads, pies, pasties and pretzels – just make sure to get there early to avoid disappointment!

Tanunda Bakery is another lovely bakery with a wide range of products, including coffee and sandwiches

Harvest Kitchen boasts delicious share plates with stunning views. Open daily for lunch and Saturday nights for dinner (PH: 7523 3950)

Nuriootpa Area

Barista Sista Beanery is a family-owned business and has a large range of coffee bean varieties available as well as cakes and other treats.

The Eatery is on the Maggie Beer Pheasant Farm shop site and is run by her daughter, Elli. It has a great view of the lake and food to share (PH: 85621 902).

El Estanco is a South American family run restaurant located in Greenock. With great coffee, sweets and meals, it’s one of our regulars! Pizza nights on Friday evenings are worth checking out too! (PH: 0438 006 552)

Bean Addiction is located within the Penfolds Building Precinct and roast their own beans on site with an extensive tea and coffee menu that you can try while you’re there.

Angaston Area

Barossa Valley Cheese Co. produces beautiful artisan cheese, as well as hosting tastings and light lunches (PH: 8564 3636)

Casa Carboni is a small business that specializes in locally sourced Italian food and beautiful coffee (open Wednesday to Sunday, PH: 0415 157 669)

Experiences

Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop (Tanunda) has a free cooking demonstration daily at 2pm, as well as the full range of Maggie Beer Products available for sale (bookings unavailable, open 7 days)

Casa Carboni (Angaston) has Italian cooking classes available, as well as excellent coffee and a fantastic range of international wines (open Wednesday to Sunday, PH: 0415 157 669)

The Barossa Farmer’s Market (Angaston) is open Saturdays from 7:30am-11:30am and contains stalls from a wide range of local producers, as well as coffee and breakfast!

Seppeltsfield Village contains Seppeltsfield Winery, FINO restaurant, Octeine Coffee, the Jam Factory and Vasse Virgin Skincare.  You could easily spend hours exploring, finishing off the visit with a delicious meal or coffee (PH: 8568 6200)
