Sitting immediately east of its larger sister island of Java, Bali has something for everyone. Whether you are seeking serenity and options to recharge your batteries, or looking fun and adventure, it’s a place that ticks all the boxes either for a short break or longer stay.
The south of the island is dotted with lively beach front resorts such as Kuta and Legian, or if you’re looking for a more relaxed scene head to Nusa Dua or Sanur. Away from the draw of the beach, Ubud is a tranquil and calming spot surrounded by natural forest and cooling waterfalls – a real tonic for the mind, body and soul!

Currency: Indonesian Rupiah. Most business will accept credit and debit cards however smaller and remote vendors rely on cash
Weather: Lying just 8 degrees south of the equator, the climate is tropical with fairly consistant temperatures year-round, with a cycle of wet and dry seasons, November to March and April to October respectively.
Main attractions: Beaches of the south, temples, rainforests and waterfalls
Tipping is not demanded but is expected and always appreciated.

DENPASAR AIRPORT (DPS)
Denpasar Airport is located approximately 13kms south of the capital city, and 2.5kms from Kuta. The new international terminal opened in 2013, and the refurbished domestic terminal re-opened in 2014.
From the airport, it is advisable to prebook a transfer via your hotel or a reputable travel company, as taking a transfer on arrival may be unreliable and not particularly good value.
TRANSPORT
There is no formal public transport system in Bali, so getting around is fairly dependent on taxis, hotel transfers, private transfers and car hire. If you intend to drive, you will require an International Drivers’ Licence.
